||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2 February, 2008ENTERPRISE EDUCATION : MEDIA RELEASES 2009Northland's Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme looks set for a huge year in 2009. Following on from the programme's success in 2008, Northland is poised to introduce a new division of YES, which focuses on technology classes. “For many years, the YES programme has been taught via the Commerce curriculum, in subjects such as Economics or Business Studies,” says YES Northland Regional Co-ordinator Sasha Webb. “From 2009, we will be offering it to students in technology classes, including Hard Materials, Soft Materials, Fashion and Food Technology. The pilot programme, called Enterprising Technology, sees each technology class assigned a client from the business community. The client sets the class a brief, and in answering that brief, the students create their new product or service. “This could revolutionise the way Technology classes are taught, and will provide stronger links between schools and the local business community,” says Ms Webb. “We are looking forward to what will be an exciting and challenging year for all of our YES students.” |
