Enterprise Northland announces winners of the the Most Outstanding School award |

This year, a record number of schools took part in the Northland Enterprise Education programme. The competition for the Award for Most Outstanding School was fierce, with the judges unable to separate two schools. Whangarei Boys High School and Springbank School, Kerikeri have been announced as the joint winners. Northland Enterprise Education Director, David Templeton, says the two schools both demonstrated excellence in enterprise culture, which was reinforced with YES companies from their respective schools winning awards throughout the year. “Both schools have support from their Boards of Trustees, senior staff and Enterprise teachers. They are developing a culture within each school which highlights the importance of enterprise education, and both schools should be commended for that.” Springbank School 's YES company, Pacific Surf Sports, won the Top Energy Award for Enterprise Excellence at the recent Northland YES Awards. The school held a number of Enterprise activities throughout the year, incorporating students from Years 1-13. Whangarei Boys High School also demonstrated excellence throughout its levels. The Year 10 Enterprise Studies class held a highly successful product launch in Term 2. This was followed by the YES companies' Trade Fair in Term 3. Whangarei Boys' High School student Zak Leitch won the BDO Spicers Trophy for Most Enterprising Student at the Northland YES Awards. |
