Think your way to excellence |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6 November, 2003ENTERPRISE EDUCATION : MEDIA RELEASES 2003"Leadership is an attitude of mind - if you believe you can, you will. You think your way to success" is the underlying philosophy behind YEP (the Young Entrepreneur Programme), according to YEP Director Frank Leadley . "I am a great believer in the Peter Kenyon statement that destiny is not a matter of chance - it is a matter of choice", says Frank, "and this is an underlying principle in all of the YEP and certainly in the Enterprise Leadership programme, which is one of its key components." YEP is a programme that is being piloted in Northland by Enterprise Northland and funded by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise , and aims to develop an enterprise culture across the curriculum in Northland secondary schools. "The Enterprise Leadership component of the YEP has got away to a great start, and I am delighted at the way in which students have been striving to attain an Enterprise Leadership Certificate and then move on to receive the Enterprise Leadership Badge", stated Frank Leadley . "These awards aim to promote excellence and an incentive to achieve at the highest levels possible through existing school activities, and the programme has certainly caught on strongly," he said. In addition to the certificates and badges each Enterprise Northland School awards a trophy to their Most Outstanding Enterprise leader, and two further regional awards provide recognition for those who have risen to the very top. The BDO Spicers Award for Northland's Most Outstanding Enterprise Student is awarded on the basis of the best "Reflective Journal" which catalogues the student's achievements and skills; and the Enterprise Northland Trophy for Northland's Most Outstanding Enterprise School is awarded to the school that has displayed the most effective promotion and achievement of enterprise across the curriculum and the student body.
